Use ALL 5 Senses when Cooking AND Baking!
ALL five senses should be considered when creating any food or dessert. Always remember smell, taste, sight, sound, and texture. The way your ingredients interact with each other will leave a long lasting impression on whomever consumes them.
The questions below will help you consider all your senses when preparing and creating a meal or dessert:
Smell: Is the fragrance of the food comforting?
Taste: Do the flavors contrast or balance each other?
Sight: Is what you are making or baking visually appealing? (before and after it’s completed)
Sound: Is your cooking equipment (oven, skillet, grill, fryer, etc.) hot enough to begin your cooking process; do you hear a sizzle? Do you hear a crunch when biting into something crispy?
Texture: Is the texture of your food or dessert authentic to what your are creating? (Is your custard smooth and creamy or is it lumpy?, Is your fried chicken crunchy?, etc.)
